George Quentin Conover was born on October 31, 1921, in Port Chester, New York. His parents were Emilie Anne Friese (24) and George Irving Conover (27). George had two brothers, Mallick and John, as well as two sisters named Mary and Elizabeth. The Conover family resided at 11 Eleanor Street in Rye and actively participated in the Church of the Resurrection.

George graduated from Rye High School as part of the Class of 1939. During his high school years, he took on the role of a messenger, joined the Drivers Club, and pursued his passion for running by participating in track events. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during World War II, achieving the rank of Sergeant while stationed in Italy.

After the war, George embarked on his academic journey and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1950. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Business and Public Administration, becoming part of the largest graduating class in the school’s history, consisting of 2,419 students. During his time at the university, George became a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He found employment at the Equitable Life Insurance Company in Baltimore, where he resided with his newly wedded wife.

George embarked on a successful career as an independent mortgage broker, dedicating his professional life to the mortgage industry. He and his wife settled in Maryland and raised their family.

George Quentin Conover passed away on May 2, 2018, at the age of 96, in Catonsville, Maryland. More about Conover.
