Rotary Collects Half Ton of Food

The Rotary Club of Rye’s annual food drive concluded on Tuesday, after the club collected more than 1,000 pounds of food (five SUV loads) and more than 1,200 diapers and other personal hygiene products or community food pantries and feeding programs. Organizations that received food were Bread of Life Food Pantry in Rye, The Carver Center in Port Chester, The Don Bosco Community Center in Port Chester and My Sister’s Place in White Plains.

“Helping neighbors through The Rotary Club of Rye is a tradition dating back 61 years since the club was founded,” said Rita Tino, member of the Rye Rotary and local attorney. “I find it so personally rewarding to help others who need a hand especially at the holidays. I am so happy that this food and other products will help make a brighter Thanksgiving for those who are struggling financially this time of year. I am glad to have been asked to coordinate the drive again this year.”.

The Rotary Club sent special thanks to the Blind Brook Teachers Association who helped with the food drive by collecting food across their district.
