Santa has put out two mailboxes in the City of Rye so all good boys and girls have an easy location to drop off their letters to Father Christmas. With some assistance from the Rye Recreation Department and the folks at our Caroline O’Day Post Office building, Santa receives about 600 letters each year from children in Rye.

Each of the 600 or so letters gets a response from Santa and his helpers (some helpers receive community service hours, according to sources close to the North Pole).

The first Santa mailbox is at Rye Recreation headquarters at 281 Midland Avenue. The second Santa mailbox, showing that Old Saint Nick has some humor and empathy for parents navigating the holidays, is just outside Anna Maria’s Wine Bar in downtown Rye at the intersection of Purchase Street and Elm Place.
