200 Take Polar Plunge on New Year’s
Two hundred area residents took a polar plunge into the cold waters of the Long Island Sound to start 2024 and raise money for local charities. The 22nd Annual Chill’n for Charity Polar Bear Dip had residents of all ages stripping down and entering the cold waters around 12 noon from Oakland Beach in Rye Town Park.
Local charities benefiting from the event include Sole Ryeders, Compassionate Care ALS and Outreach Resurrection. The race was in memory of Mamaroneck resident Eugene Doherty and Rye resident Norbert Galligan.
