Big; Blue Union; $4M for a Clean Flush; Whose Agenda?: Rye City Council Agenda for Wednesday, February 28, 2024

The city council’s agenda for its meeting at 6:30pm on Wednesday, February 28 2024 is out. The meeting will also be aired on Cablevision Channel 75 and Verizon Channel 39. We’ll also see you on the Internet (live and archive).

Formal office hours of the Mayor and other officials have been suspended. The Council will convene at 5:30pm and will adjourn into Executive Session to discuss pending litigation, personnel matters and pending contracts.

Let’s check the batting order and highlights from the 17 agenda items.

  • Siren Call. Consideration of proposed policies for the City of Rye Fire Department:
    • Policy # 500 – Medical Supplies
    • Policy # 602– Firefighter Health Safety and Survival Training
    • Policy # 604 – CPR and Automated External Defibrillator Training

  • Blue Union. Consideration of a Memorandum of Agreement between the City of Rye and the Rye Police Association.
  • $4M for a Clean Flush. Resolution to award contract #2024-01 (Sewer Main Spot Repair Project).
  • N-Pepa. Resolution to award contract #2024-04 (Salt Shed materials).
  • Senior Calc. Set a public hearing for March 20, 2024, on a possible amendment of Chapter 177 “Taxation”, Article III, “Senior Citizens Exemption” to alter the income calculation used to determine exemptions and increase the income limits.
  • More Senior Calc. Set a public hearing for March 20, 2024, on a possible amendment of Chapter 177 “Taxation”, Article VIII, “Exemption for Persons with Disabilities and Limited Incomes” to alter the income calculation used to determine exemptions increase the income limits.

    • Eat Your Greens. a) Consideration of a request by the Rye Chamber of Commerce for the use of City Car Park #2 on Sundays for the Down To Earth Farmer’s Market to be held weekly on May 5, 2024 – December 1, 2024.
    • Find a Deal. b) Consideration of a request by the Rye Chamber of Commerce for the use of City streets for the Annual Sidewalk Sale, Thursday July 18 – Saturday July 20, 2024, from 10 AM – 4 PM.
    • Smooch. c) Consideration of a request by the Rye Chamber of Commerce for use of Purchase Street from Village Green to Purdy to host the Annual Mistletoe Magic Celebration, Sunday December 1, 2024, from 11 AM – 3 PM.

  • Whose Agenda? Resolution adopting rules for agenda setting and conducting business at council meetings.

The next regular meeting of the City Council will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 6:30pm.
