Rye PD Arrests 25 Year Old in DWI Motor Vehicle Accident
Rye PD arrested a 25 year old driver on Sunday in a DWI motor vehicle accident on the Boston Post Road in the area of Bradford Avenue. The area is near the Rye Golf Club and the Jay Heritage Center.
At approximately 12:50pm on Sunday, February 18th, Rye Police Officers responded to the area for a motor vehicle accident. Osbin L. Miranda-Lopez, age 25 of Bedford, was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated.
An investigation determined Miranda-Lopez was operating a 2011 Toyota Sienna traveling northbound on the Boston Road when he reportedly fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle crossing into southbound traffic striking a motor vehicle. Officers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests which Miranda-Lopez failed. He was arrested and transported to Rye Police Headquarters where he provided a breath sample of .22% BAC. Miranda- Lopez was uninjured and the driver of the other vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
Miranda-Lopez was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the City of Rye Court for a later date in March. Rye PD reminds you that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
