Girls Varsity Softball Clawed by the Red Hawks of Nyack
Rye Girls Varsity Softball was clawed by the Red Hawks of Nyack at home on Saturday. The Hawks flew away with the win 7 – 4.
“We played another great game and unfortunately came up short again,” said Rye Girls Varsity Softball Coach Alex Tejera. “We lost 7 to 4 in extra innings. We were tired 2 too 2 after 7 innings, they went up 4 to 2 in the 8th innings, we came back to tie it at 4, but couldn’t hold them in the 9th. Two tough losses to start the season.
Game highlights included:
- Caroline Joyce pitched all 9 innings in her 1st Varsity start in the circle striking out 10 batters. She also went 2-4 with an Rbi at the plate.
- Tessa Labovitz was 1-4 with a 2B and an Rbi and a RS.
- Jillian DeSanto went 1-4 with a 2B and a RS.
- Millie Brooks was also 1 – 4.
The season is now 0 – 2. The Garnets host Gorton on Monday at 5:00pm.
