In Memory: Carole McCrea, Age 89
Carole McCrea, a Rye resident for over 60 years, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, at the age of 89. Carole was born on April 26, 1934, in South Bend, Indiana. She was pre-deceased by her loving parents, Gerald and Eleanor Amerman, her brother, Keith Amerman, and her husband, Joseph McCrea.
Carole graduated High School in Toronto, Canada. She then graduated from the Katharine Gibbs School in New York City, equipping her with the skills that would serve her well in a distinguished career as an Executive Secretary and Administrative Assistant.
Carole started her career at Vicks Chemical Company, followed by a significant tenure at the Rye YMCA where she served as an Administrative Assistant for 15 years. Her professional journey continued at Pechiney Corporation for 10 years and concluded with 8 years at Howmet Corporation, where she was an esteemed Executive Assistant.
Carole was an avid reader and she loved the challenge of completing the Sunday New York Times Crossword Puzzle in ink. Her home was graced by a beautiful garden, a testament to her patience where she found solace and joy in the tranquility of nurturing growth and life.
Her legacy is carried on by her children, Keith (Connie) McCrea, Kevin (Kim) McCrea, and Eileen (Anthony) Andreoli. She was a cherished grandmother to Cassidy McCrea, Michael McCrea, Amanda Andreoli and Tracy Andreoli.
The family will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on Thursday April 4, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection on Friday April 5, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, NY.
