In Memory: Christine M. Denton, Age 73
Christine M. Denton of Tuckahoe, New York, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, at the age of 73. She was surrounded by her loving family including her beloved sister, Elizabeth (Denton) Worsham, and several of her nieces and nephews.
Christine was born on January 11, 1951, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Paul and Kathleen Denton. She grew up in Hicksville, Long Island and Rye, NY with her two sisters and two brothers. She worked primarily for Verizon in Manhattan and more recently as a data specialist for Pernod Ricard in Purchase, NY.
Christine was devoted to her family and she was particularly beloved as an aunt. Christine, or Aunt Chrissy, played a significant role in the lives of her nieces and nephews, providing guidance, support, and endless love. She had a special way of making each one feel valued and unique. She loved going to museums and bookstores and took her nieces, nephews, and even great nieces and nephews, on many memorable trips to the American Museum of Natural History. She was known for showering the children in the family with gifts on Christmas and on birthdays, always trying to get just the right presents to bring much joy.
Christine was an extremely avid reader and devoured books on all subjects, and especially enjoyed history books. She had an insatiable desire to learn as much as she could about certain historic moments or figures, as well as famous writers, musicians and politicians. She had impressive encyclopedic knowledge about events and people and often joked about her books taking over her living spaces.
She will be deeply missed by all who experienced her love, care and attention.
A celebration of Christine’s life will be held with a date and location forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Little Free Library which expands book access to all, in honor of Christine’s passion for reading.
