In Memory: Madeline Ross Tappert (Foote), Age 84
Madeline Ross Tappert (Foote) passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024 at the age of 84. Mady lived a long life filled with love. She will be remembered for her dedication to family, especially her beloved Bill, whom she spoke of often and was looking forward to seeing again. Generous, fun and sometimes silly, Aunt Mady was a favorite of her nieces and nephews who she loved like her own.
Madeline was born to Donald Foote and Dorothy (Robie) Foote on September 18, 1939, in Marshfield, Massachusetts. She graduated from Marshfield High School in 1957 where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She began her career in Boston at John Hancock before moving to Rye, New York, where she worked at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center for many years. Her commitment to her work was admirable and left a lasting impact on those around her.
Madeline was married to William G. Tappert in 1961 and they shared 57 years together prior to his passing in 2019. Bill was the love of Madeline’s life and they built a beautiful life together in New Rochelle, New York, where Madeline resided until moving back to Massachusetts in 2021. Madeline was fortunate to be surrounded by family in Massachusetts and cared for by the wonderful staffs at Sunrise Senior Living of Cohasset, Celtic Angels, and the Pat Roche Hospice Home. She loved visits from family and especially enjoyed exercise class with Maria from Doting Daughters. Her family is forever grateful for the loving care she received in her later years.
In her leisure time, Madeline found joy in boating with friends. She loved shopping and cherishing moments with her family and friends. Her quick wit and facial expressions kept everyone on their toes, and her fun spirit and love for life were evident in all that she did.
Madeline is survived by her sisters, Jane Melvin, Malin Snow, Dawn Johnson, and Dorothy Ann Foote, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, William G. Tappert, and sister, Jennifer McKenney.
Madeline’s presence will be sorely missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
Private services will be held at a later date.
