Playland, Capitol Theatre Partner to Present Bi-Weekly Live Music
Rye Playland announced Monday that, in collaboration with The Capitol Theatre, they are hosting a five week summer concert series from July through the beginning of September. Concerts are scheduled to occur every other Saturday and Sunday between Independence Day and Labor Day. All concerts will take place at Playland’s Main Stage.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with The Capitol Theatre to bring live musical performances that visitors from all generations can enjoy and appreciate,” Evonne Keeler, CEO of Playland, said in a press release. “This collaboration is just one of the ways that Playland is working to grow its reach within the community through new and robust arts and culture programming.” This is a first-time partnership between Playland and The Capitol Theatre, also known as ‘The Original Rock Palace’, which is based in Port Chester.
The Rock and Roll Playhouse will perform Sunday concerts, which are designed to be family-friendly. This concert series takes popular tunes and morphs them into remixes suitable for listeners of all ages. Classic artists visitors can expect to hear on five Sundays this summer include Blink-182, Queen, Talking Heads, and the Beatles, while a Taylor Swift cover is scheduled for August 4.
