A man was punched in the face while on Wappanocca Avenue in Rye’s Indian Village neighborhood last Friday, July 5th. That afternoon, around 1:00pm, a man walked into police headquarters reporting that he had been punched in the face earlier that morning on Wappanocca Avenue.
After speaking with the victim, Rye PD determined that both parties knew each other and this was not a random incident. After a brief investigation, the suspect was identified as Fernando Berriel Bruno.
Berriel Bruno, 61, of Bronx, New York, was arrested and arraigned on Friday, July 12th, 2024. Berriel Bruno was charged with Assault in the third degree and Harassment in the second degree. Berriel Bruno was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Rye City Court on July 16th, 2024.
Rye PD reminds you booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant(s) are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
