Seven to Area Hospitals After Bus and SUV Accident on I-95
Seven people were sent to area hospitals after an accident between a Toyota 4-Runner and a Westchester County Bee-Line bus on Interstate I-95 in Rye on Friday night. The driver of the car had a “severe leg injury”. The conditions of the other six individuals were not provided.
At 10:08pm Friday, the Rye Fire Department was dispatched to Interstate 95 northbound just past Exit 19 at mile marker 12.3 for a motor vehicle accident with reports of a car and bus involved. Once on scene units confirmed the one car, a Toyota 4-Runner and one bus, a Westchester County Bee-Line bus, were involved. The driver of the car was removed from their vehicle and placed in the care of EMS with a severe leg injury. No reason was provided as to the cause of the accident.
Passengers on the bus were evaluated by additional EMS personnel. In total seven people were transported to area hospitals. The remaining passengers transferred to another bus. Crews remained on location for scene safety, spill mitigation and overall accident clean up. Firefighters cleared the scene at 12:27am Saturday morning.
In addition to Rye FD, other agencies responding included Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS, American Medical Response, Harrison EMS, Mamaroneck EMS, a Westchester County EMS coordinator, New York State Police, and Vincent Service Inc. Mutual aid from Rye Brook and Port Chester stood by in their quarters to cover any additional calls from the City of Rye.
