The Rye Football Team defeated Clarkstown North on Friday evening at Nugent Stadium to the tune of a 43-6 blowout. The Garnets led 35-0 at halftime and rested some starters while on cruise control the rest of the way. Rye moves to 3-0 on the year and 1-0 in league play after their second straight decisive victory.

“Tonight was an outstanding performance by both the offensive side, scoring five consecutive drives to open a 35-6 lead in the first half, and the defensive side, holding a powerful Clarkstown North squad to 6 points for the game,” Head Coach Dino Garr told MyRye.com after the game. “This was a good first league win, setting us up for our next league opponent, Nyack High School.”

Rye turned a quick stop to open the game into 7 on a Chris Iuliano touchdown. He scored to open the second quarter as well to extend the lead to 21-0 (Henry Shoemaker caught a long TD in between the rushing scores). Archer Fenton and Jake Kessner added touchdown catches to end the half. The Garnets tacked on eight more points in the second half while holding the Rams scoreless to secure the 43-6 decision.

“The coaching staff and I are very pleased with the total team effort which has led to our 3-0 start this season,” Garr said in his postgame report. “Special recognition to our offensive line which continues to improve with each game.”

The Garnets (3-0, 1-0) travel for their first road game of the year next weekend at Nyack. The game is set for Saturday at 6:00pm against the RedHawks. Watch their recent win vs Clarkstown North here.
