Rye Varsity Volleyball came in 2nd place at the Walter Panas Tournament on Saturday, September 28, in a strong showing from the team. After going undefeated in pool play, the Garnets won two playoff games against strong opponents before falling to John Jay-Cross River in the finals and losing a competitive match.

Rye’s path to the final went through two ‘A’ schools – Ardsley and Arlington. The Garnets had previously lost to the Panthers and were excited for the rematch. They also clinched victory against Arlington to reach the finals, where they fell to the JJCR Wolves.

“There was a lot of great volleyball played on Saturday,” Head Coach Geri Jones told MyRye.com. “I am so proud of our team for playing hard all day, setting goals for themselves and the team, and working toward those goals.”

The team (6-3) is back in action on Monday, September 30, as they host the Pelham Pelicans at Rye High School. Watch that game here. They also play they next day – Tuesday, October 1 – when they travel to Mamaroneck for a road contest against the Tigers. Watch that one here. Both games are scheduled for a 4:30pm start time.
