Three to Hospital After Multi Vehicle Accident on Interstate 95
Three people were taken the hospital after a multi vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in Rye early Sunday morning.
Rye FD was dispatched to a multi-vehicle accident on I-95 southbound involving a tractor-trailer and multiple other vehicles at 7:25 am on Sunday. While en route, firefighters were informed by Rye PD that one individual was trapped inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, the FD assessed the scene, which included three cars and a tractor-trailer, and began the extrication process for the trapped driver.
Firefighters worked to remove the driver while Port Chester-Rye-Rye Brook EMS attended to the other passengers. After stabilizing the vehicle, personnel successfully maneuvered the tractor-trailer to complete the extrication and transfer the occupant into the care of EMS. Three individuals were transported to Westchester Medical Center for further evaluation and care.
Rye PD managed traffic control at the scene, while the Rye FD and Vincent Service Inc. worked to clear the vehicles and address fluid spills on the roadway. All effected lanes were cleared and reopened by 8:40 am. The incident is under investigation by the New York State Police. Mutual aid from Rye Brook and Port Chester were placed on standby to cover any additional calls while the primary Rye units operated the accident scene.
