Rye sports have been pitching shutout after shutout in early play in the fall of 2024 – and the Girls Varsity Soccer Team is no exception. The Garnets defeated Monroe-Woodbury 2-0 on Sunday morning to move to 2-0 and win their bracket in the New York State Hall of Fame tournament. The team previously beat Fayetteville Manlius 3-0 to open play in the tournament.

Rye’s volleyball, field hockey, and girls tennis teams all have shutouts already to open their seasons, with this being the second clean sheet for Head Coach Rich Savage’s team in two games.

Claire Nemsick and Jill DeSanto were the Garnet goal scorers on Sunday, with Bowyn Brown and Lyla Keenan picking up assists respectively. Nemsick scored on a beautiful corner kick from Brown, while DeSanto knocked home Keenan’s cross in the second half to add insurance.

The Garnets will return home with a perfect 2-0 record and +5 goal differential. Their next match is another non-league showdown at Somers High School on Tuesday, September 10, at 4:30pm (watch it).
