Rye Varsity Football continued to impress in the fall of 2024, doing enough on offense and dominating on defense in a 21-0 shutout victory over Clarkstown South in Week 4. Familiar faces showed up for the Garnets in their fifth win of the year, and third at home.

“Our defense had an outstanding effort throughout the game, shutting out the Vikings,” Head Coach Dino Garr told MyRye.com after the game. “Linebacker play of [Andrew] Wilmarth, [Jake] Kessner, and [Nigel] Strazzini, and line play of [Hunter] Gillies, [Patrick] McGuire, and [Owen] Saya were instrumental in shutting down the Vikings offense.”

The Garnets started strong with an opening drive touchdown pass from Carson Miller to Henry Shoemaker. Both teams fought hard and that remained the only score after two quarters of play. In the second half, the Garnets scored two touchdowns – another Miller to Shoemaker connection in the third quarter and a Chris Iuliano touchdown run in the fourth. The Garnets did not surrender any points, as they came away with the 21-0 win, their third in league play.

Rye (5-0, 3-0) has seven days off before their next battle, a road contest against Eastchester on Sunday, October 13. Kickoff against the Eagles is scheduled for 3:00pm at Eastchester High School’s turf. This sets up to be one of Rye’s tougher games of the 2024 season as they will look to keep the win streak alive.
