Rye Woman Arrested for Possession of Controlled Substances
A local woman has been arrested by the Rye Police Department for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
The PD announced the arrest Tuesday morning of a 66 year old Rye woman after accepting a package containing 180 Carisoprodol (SOMA) pills at the Rye Post Office located at 41 Purdy Avenue in downtown Rye. The female identified as Kathleen M. Gerety-Gianguzzi was arrested on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 by Rye Detectives after an investigation was opened into Gerety-Gianguzzi receiving controlled substances through the mail without a prescription.
Gerety-Gianguzzi was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree. She was processed and released on her own recognizance with desk appearance ticket returnable to Rye City Court on October 22, 2024 at 9:00 am. Carisoprodol is a class IV controlled substance prescribed as a pain blocker and muscle relaxer. The DEA has called to inquire about the online pharmacy source of these drugs.
