Rye PD Adds New Officer – Morales Joins from Mt. Vernon

On Monday morning, December 9, 2024, the City of Rye welcomed its newest police officer. Dangelo Morales was sworn in by Rye City Clerk Noga Ruttenberg in a City Hall ceremony.

Morales, age 25, joins the Rye Police Department from the City Mount Vernon where he has been a police officer for the last 2.5 years. Dangelo was born in Fort Myers, Florida and has lived in the Bronx with his grandmother and father for the last six years. Dangelo is a 2017 graduate of Perth Amboy High School located in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He attended SUNY Bronx-EOC where he earned a certification as a nursing assistant.

Rye PD has recruited a number of its younger officers from Mt. Vernon, including Officer Victor Rodriguez who joined Rye PD in July. According to officials, Officer Morales will be assigned to a field training officer and will commence his training immediately.
