Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Bounces Back to Claim First League 2 Victory
The Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Swimming and Diving Team clinched their first victory of the 2024-25 winter season on Monday evening, December 9, 2024, defeating Yorktown – Somers by a score of 55-35. It’s a nice bounce back for the team, who dropped their home opener to Harrison on Friday last week (12/6).
“Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook had a great meet tonight against Yorktown – Somers,” Head Coach Katie Konopka told MyRye.com after the meet. While it was a team effort, four swimmers stood out for their individual performances, winning multiple events each.
The 200-meter medley relay of Nick Stocks, Wilson Redd, George Papaioannou, and Jack Radwaner finished first place. All four would also win other events – including Papaioannou, Stocks, Redd, and Michael Ladyzhensky in the 400M freestyle relay. Stocks also won the 200M free and 500M free in a dominant performance. Redd was victorious in the 50M free, showing off his short-distance prowess. Additionally, Papaioannou won the 100M fly, while Radwaner placed first in the 100M breaststroke.
Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook (1-1) only has one day off before their next road meet, as they travel to Sarah Lawrence College’s pool in Bronxville to take on the Pelham Pelicans. The meet is scheduled for 4:30pm on Wednesday, December 11.
