Garnets Hockey Earns Season Split with Pelham Behind Dolan Duo

Trevor Dolan scored the game-winner and his brother Drew added third period insurance to lift Rye Hockey to a 3-1 victory over longtime rival Pelham on Wednesday evening. Kai Brittain scored the other goal for Rye, and Dean Kim recorded two assists in the low-shot, low-scoring affair.
“We got off to a good start early, outshooting Pelham by a 9-2 margin,” Head Coach Pete Thomas told MyRye.com after the win. “Kai Brittain opened the scoring with a snipe from the point off a pass from Dean Kim. In the second, Pelham took advantage of a turnover to knot the game at 1 before Trevor Dolan scored moments later off a pass from Ryan Draddy to put us up 2-1. Drew Dolan added the insurance goal in the third off a pass from Dean Kim.”
Fernando Mosquera saved 16/17 in net for his sixth win of the season, including ten stops in the third period.
Rye splits the regular season series with Pelham after the Pelicans picked up a home win by the same 3-1 score on January 14. The Garnets have now won four of five since that loss, with their only defeat coming in overtime, to improve their season record to 8-5-1. They will look to avenge another early-season loss in their next game, on the road at Mamaroneck, on Friday, January 31. Puck drop is scheduled for 5:25pm at the Hommocks Park Ice Rink. The Garnets previously lost to the Tigers on January 9.
