Girls Basketball Suffers First Defeat of 2025 Against Ketcham

The Rye Girls Varsity Basketball Team lost their only game in the Autism Classic Girls Basketball Tournament on Saturday, January 18. The Garnets fell to RC Ketcham in the first game of the day, which also featured Mamaroneck vs Pelham, Ursuline vs Tappan Zee, and Byram Hills against the host school, Irvington.
Paige Tepedino had 13 points to lead Rye in the game, a 61-35 loss. The loss adjusts the Garnet season record to 11 – 1.
“This annual event brings together outstanding student-athletes, passionate fans, and a shared commitment to raising awareness and support for autism,” the official website for the tournament claims. Despite the loss, Rye participated in a greater initiative to raise money for “supporting initiatives that make a difference for individuals with autism.”
Rye (11-1) will look to get back on track in league play on Wednesday, January 22, as they travel for a road contest against Pelham. Tip off against the Pelicans is scheduled for 4:30pm as part of a big day for Rye basketball against Pelham – the Garnets take on the Pelicans in boys varsity basketball, girls modified baseball, boys JV basketball, and girls JV basketball all on Tuesday.
