In Memory: Joseph Edward Scerba, Sr., Age 87
Joseph Edward Scerba, Sr , 87, of Warren Ohio passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025 surrounded by his family. A devoted resident of Rye, Joseph dedicated over 40 years as a volunteer fireman serving his community with steadfast commitment and pride. His selfless contributions left a lasting impact on those around him.
At 18 Joseph joined the Army as a paratrooper and served in the Korean war. In his leisure time Joe he found great joy in traveling, and engaging in golf and tennis, activities that brought him happiness and connection with others. He also enjoyed his Thursday nights at the firehouse. Later in life his greatest joy was to have his two daughters and his family by his side.
Joseph is survived by his daughter Pamela, 61, of Clifton Park, NY and Elizabeth, 59, residing in Maricopa, Arizona. He has three grandchildren Joseph Scerba Arnold, 33 , Ashley Arnold, 25, and Samantha Arnold, 22, and other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Joseph Edward Scerba Jr., 16, and his wife of 60 years Anna Scerba, 84, and all his brothers and sisters.
A wake will be help on Friday, January 24th from 4-7 pm at Graham Funeral Home in Rye. a funeral Mass will follow on Saturday, January 25th at Resurrection Church at 10 am in Rye.
Joe’s unwavering dedication to his community and the cherished memories he created with loved ones will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
