Rye Girls Basketball Pours it on Against Yonkers in 61-Point Win
The Rye Girls Basketball Team wasted no time piling up the points against an overmatched Yonkers team on Tuesday evening, as the Garnets defeated the Tuskers 79-18. The game was originally scheduled for Monday, January 6, but snow caused tip off to be pushed back one day. Rye seemingly would have dominated regardless of date, with eleven different athletes sinking at least one shot in the balanced victory.
“We had a complete team win vs Yonkers 79-18,” Head Coach Margo Hackett told MyRye.com after the game. Here’s how the scoring broke down for the Garnets, highlighted once again by talented junior Phoebe Greto.
Phoebe Greto – 14 pts
Caroline Storz – 11 pts
Molly Kennedy – 9 pts
Paige Tepedino – 8 pts
Frankie Chiaravalle – 8 pts
Annie Toulouse – 6 pts
Stella Maresca – 6 pts
Ella Poole – 6 pts
Kate Denvir – 6 pts
Liz Schwartzman – 3 pts
Natalie Guazzo – 2 pts
Rye (7-0) is still perfect heading into their next matchup on Thursday, January 9. The Garnets play host to Irvington at Rye HS at 5:00pm. Watch it here.
