Rye Wrestling Falls to Eastchester, 39-29

Rye Varsity Wrestling suffered their second loss of the week on Thursday, January 23rd, falling to Eastchester High School 39-29 at home. Rye put up a much better effort than their big loss on Tuesday, but still came up short to the Eagles.

“Jason Gaylord of Rye defeated highly ranked Sam Cavana of Eastchester,” Head Coach Brian Scher told MyRye.com after the meet. “Jason was winning 17-4 when he finished the match with a pin.”

Other victors for the Garnets include junior Jack Anderson, who defeated his counterpart by a pin, and junior CJ Luth, who won by a technical fall 16-1. Luth was also victorious on Tuesday, making it a good week for him despite his team’s lack of success.

Rye will look to get back into the win column over the weekend in an early morning tournament on Saturday, January 25th. Action begins at 8:30am in a large tournament-style event at the Sleepy Hollow High School Gym.
