The Rye Hockey team bounced back from an OT loss last week with a clean sheet shutout win on Wednesday evening, January 22nd, defeating Clarkstown 4-0 on the road. The Garnets crushed Clarkstown 9-2 on January 15, and had little problem replicating that success one week later.

“Clarkstown came out in a more defensive posture in our second meeting,” Head Coach Pete Thomas told MyRye.com after the game. “Ultimately, we broke through in the second for three goals.”

Will Niejadlik scored the first, assisted by his brother Max Niejadlik and Will Molin. Drew Dolan doubled the lead off a rush chance, assisted by Finn Draddy and Will Weinman. Jamie Morris scored the third goal of the middle period off a behind the back pass from Ryan Draddy. Trevor Dolan added the secondary assist, as the Garnets entered the second intermission up 3-0.

Nick Doyle sniped the final goal off a pass from Connor Brady to add further insurance to Rye’s lead. Eleven different Garnets had at least a point on the night. Fernando Mosquera made 23 saves for his second shutout of the year.

Rye (6-5) gets back over .500 in preparation for their annual Hockey Fights Cancer night. The Garnets host Pawling/Our Lady of Lourdes at Playland on Friday, January 24, at 6:00pm. “All proceeds will go to benefit Cancer Support Community of Greater NY and CT as well as MSK Rare Childhood Cancers,” Thomas confirmed.
