At approximately 6:42pm on Tuesday, February 25, 26-year-old resident of the Bronx Roberto Robles was arrested while entering I-95 southbound in Rye for driving with a stolen license plate.
“The City of Rye Police Department was notified by the Westchester County Real Time Crime Center of a vehicle traveling northbound on the Boston Post Road in the area of High Street with a stolen license plate,” Rye PD said in a press release. Officers initiated a traffic stop as the vehicle, a 2005 Honda Civic, entered interstate 95 southbound in Rye by exit/on-ramp 19.
Robles was arrested at the scene and charged with three misdemeanors: one count of Possession of Stolen Property, one for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, and one for Operating a Motor Vehicle without a Court Ordered Interlock System. Robles is due in court at 9:00am on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
It is important to note there is no indication the 2005 Honda Civic was stolen, just the New York State license plate displayed on the vehicle when Robles was pulled over.
Rye PD reminds everyone that booking charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
