Information On Rye Skiing Team: Postseason Upcoming on February 12

The Rye Varsity Skiing Team is getting set for their League B playoffs on Febraury 12 after a year filled with races far from home throughout 2025. Throughout the season, several racers for both the Boys and Girls teams qualified for the sectional championship next Wednesday. Girls Emma Stark and Kira Woosley will race on 2/12 looking to qualify for states, while Kiran Gounden-Kobes, Connor Swayne, Carsten Steinmann, and Harrison Gelinas are set to represent Rye on the boys side.
“These kids all skied great this season and Coach [David] Gray and I looking forward to see how they compete next week to see if they can make the States,” Co-Head Coach Jeff Steinmann told MyRye.com.
The Garnets participate in League B in Section 1, which sends 20 skiers for each gender to the state championship qualifier/sectional championship race at Hunter Mountain. Combined with League A (30) and the South League (20), there are 70 racers per side, all vying for 11 qualification spots.
Should any of Rye’s representatives finish top 11, they will advance on to the state championship to close out the 2024-25 season. If not, the upcoming race on Wednesday will be the final time the Rye Skiing Team suits up for the year.
