Rye Dems Announce Full Slate Ahead of Pivotal Election

The Democratic party in Rye announced their full block for the 2025 Rye mayoral election. Josh Nathan highlights the group as the mayoral candidate, and he is set to be backed by James Ward, Marion Anderson, and Amy Kesavan. The latter three will all be running for city council, as they look for democratic majority in office.
“Here it is – our amazing slate for Rye City Council!” The Rye City Democratic Committee Facebook account posted in the evening on Tuesday, February 25, along with a photo listing the four candidates. This all comes after current mayor Josh Cohn announced on Wednesday, February 5, that he did not intend to run for a third term.
Ward has served as a City Councilman since January after taking over for Ben Stacks after the latter’s resignation. He stated in an interview in September 2024 that he is a strong advocate for “sustainability, fiscal responsibility, cost containment, and efficiency.”
Anderson and Kesavan are both new candidates. Anderson is a long-time resident and Democratic district leader. Kesavan has experience on the board for both the Rye Sustainability Committee and Rye Historical Society.
The GOP party has yet to make a formal announcement regarding their slate for the election on November 4, but current Councilman Bill Henderson is the favorite to run for mayor opposite Nathan and his slate.
