I know my personal opinion means nothing but it distresses me to see this property on the market. The Tide Mill basin is truly an iconic part of Rye, a place we’re all familiar with, a place that we probably all have a least one photo of in our collections. My hope is that whoever buys it will at least respect that part of it, the beauty as well as the history. But I do worry – buyers seem to always want the newest and fanciest, and developers seem to only go for the big bang that will bring them the most bucks, caring not one bit for the integrity of what existed before their arrival with their demolition equipment.
