Rye Squash Clinches Fifth Straight Win as #s Two Through Six Prevail

The Rye Squash Team picked up another FairWest League victory on Wednesday, February 5, defeating Scarsdale 5-2 to maintain the top seed in their division. Rye suffered losses at the #1 and #7 positions, but sandwiched five wins between those results.

Andrew Chun (#2), Nate Kim-Reuter (#3), Rocco DeFife (#4), Harry Ellis (#5) and Philip Nemeth (#6) all claimed individual victories in their respective matchups, including Ellis and Nemeth pulling out wins in tight five-game series. The two claimed co-players of the match for their gritty triumphs, which helped Rye avoid another 4-3 loss on the season.

“Another solid win with Rye taking five of the seven matches,” Head Coach Quan Hyunh said after the game. “We’re looking forward to our next match on Friday against Darien.”

The Garnets host Darien on February 7, looking for their sixth consecutive win, at LifeTime Athletic in their penultimate match of the season. Festivities are set to begin at 6:30pm in Harrison. Rye will then conclude its regular season with another home match at LifeTime on Monday, February 10, at 8:00pm vs Bronxville. From there, it is playoffs, followed by nationals.
