Swimming and Diving Concludes 2024-25 with Section 1 Championship Meet

The Rye – Rye Neck – Blind Brook Swim and Dive Team took to the pool on Monday, February 10, and Tuesday the 11th for the Section 1 Championship meet. The meet took place as Felix Fiesta Middle School in Several athletes took part for Head Coach Katherine Konopka, highlighted by the 200-meter medley relay team.

The most impressive relay team all season of Kieran Moran, Filip Glitterstam, George Papaioannou, and Wilson Redd placed 11th in the 200M medley. Individually, Moran placed 8th in the 200M individual medley (IM) and 7th in the 100M freestyle. Glitterstam finished 32nd in the 200M IM and 30th in the 100M breaststroke. Redd earned 19th in the 50M freestyle and 18th in the 100M butterfly. Papaioannou placed 24th in the 100M fly in his only individual event.

Those four also joined in other combinations in other events, as Moran, Redd, Michael Ladyzhensky, and Nick Stocks secured 8th place in the 200M freestyle team relay. Glitterstam, Papaioannou, Ladyzhensky, and Stocks took 18th in the 400M freestyle team relay. Individually, Stocks finished 25th in the 200M freestyle and 29th in the 100M freestyle. Ladyzhensky earned 29th in the 200M IM.

The team finishes their first year in League 2 with a 4-6 overall record and plenty of hope for the future. Only Michael Ladyzhensky is set to graduate, meaning Konopka can look forward to a similar roster next year with another year of development in between.
