New Officer for Rye PD Joins from Mt. Vernon

The City of Rye Police Department added its newest officer on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Stephen Rose, age 29, was sworn in this morning at Rye City Hall by City Clerk Noga Ruttenberg. Rose joins from the Mount Vernon Police Department where he worked for the last three years, in part as a field training officer. He graduated in 2019 with a BS degree in physical therapy from Mercy University. He is assigned to the Rye PD Patrol Division for his field training.

“I have passion for helping people and am invested in creating a healthy environment for people to thrive in,” said Rose in a statement from Rye PD. “And now I am another asset for this community to utilize when in need.”

Rose was born in Mt. Vernon and raised in New Rochelle in a family with Jamaican and Indian roots. He grew up playing football, basketball, and tennis.
