Season Outlook is a series where MyRye.com asks every varsity coach about the season ahead. Today, we learn about the Rye Girls Varsity Golf team’s season speaking with Head Coach Rich Savage.

A ‘big three’ will lead the way for the Garnets in 2025: captains Myla Bisceglia, Matilda Glitterstam, and Laeticia Clauss. All three athletes are returning stars from last year and will look to close out their high school careers with a bang. All three are four-year members of the varsity team. Bisceglia qualified for the state championships last year.

Beyond the captains, several key returners will play a role in helping the Garnets as they look to match or even improve upon their solid 10-3 record from 2024. Phoebe Lee, Iciar Garate, and Anna Bancroft should handle starting roles as underclassmen to help fill in the depth chart.

The 10-3 mark was good enough for a league title and second place finish in Section 1 behind Scarsdale. The Raiders are already a point of concern for Savage ahead of the first match of the season. “If Rye would like the opportunity to compete as a team at the NYS championship, they need to beat Scarsdale,” Savage told MyRye.com.

He and his team are looking forward to that match-up as well as a highly-touted showdown against Ursuline. “Our girls are looking forward to competing against both Scarsdale and Ursuline,” Savage told MyRye.com before the season. “Both schools are always very competitive.”

In all likelihood, Rye will have to beat Ursuline for the second consecutive season to reign the league for the second consecutive season. Their quest to repeat begins on Tuesday, April 8, a season-opening marquee matchup against the rival Scarsdale Raiders. What a start to the season for the Garnets.
