The Rye Boys Tennis Team bounced back after their loss to Rye Country Day on Monday, April 28, defeating New Rochelle 6-1. Rye dominated in every phase except the #1 singles spot to cruise to their fifth victory of the 2025 season.

“Today Marcos Becker played third singles and had a win in his first singles match of the season,” Head Coach Sue Dickson told MyRye.com after the victory. “Philip Karajannis subbed in for him at 3rd doubles and he and Tayga Vural made a great team.”

Rye did not lose even a game in second and third singles and all four doubles matches. It was true dominance. The only hiccup was in the top singles, where Grant Lobo battled against Alex Suhanitski, who is nationally ranked number one among 16U competitors. Lobo was actually the first opponent to win even a game against Suhanitski this spring.

“Credit to Grant Lobo, eighth grader, for winning a game and coming pretty darn close on a few other games,” Dickson said of her star underclassman.” Aside from that match which was exciting, all the other Rye players won in straight sets not giving up a game. 6-0, 6-0 at all spots.”

Rye improves to 5-2 and have won convincingly in four of those five victories. They will look to make it six on Tuesday April 29, as they host Mamaroneck at 4:30pm.
