The Rye Softball Team finally played a home game in 2025, hosting both Mahopac on Monday 4/28 and Eastchester on Tuesday 4/29. Both games were played on the brand new softball field on Rye’s school grounds, which opened on Monday just in time for the team’s hope opener. The Garnets could not celebrate the occasion with a win, dropping a 5-4 decision to the Wolf Pac and then a 15-1 game to the Eagles on consecutive days.

On Monday, the Garnets saw Charlotte Dinger lead the way with two hits and two runs in three at-bats. Gigi Gilmore had a hit, walk, and two runs batted in in a productive day. Jill DeSanto also went 1-3 with a walk, scoring a run. Tessa Labowitz went 1-3 with an RBI. Ava Rollano reached base twice, and Rebekah Golub scored a run after recording her first career varsity hit.

“Tough loss, but a great game on our new softball field,” Head Coach Alex Tejera told MyRye.com. “Thank you to all that helped make this possible!”

The following day, Rye welcomed in a very potent Eastchester team and struggled to keep up with the Eagles’ offense. Ava Cross had a standout day at the plate with two hits, including a double. Ava Rollano scored Rye’s only run, going 1-2.

Rye is 0-7 on the season after their first two home games of the year.
