Girls Lacrosse Falls to Nyack for First Loss

The Rye Girls Lacrosse Team’s comeback effort fell just short in their first loss of the 2025 season on Tuesday, April 8. The Garnets lost 12-11 to the host Nyack Redhawks after trailing 8-4 at halftime.
“Although we came up just short vs Nyack, our potential and grit was showcased as soon as the first whistle blew in the second half,” Head Coach Michelle Mason told MyRye.com on Thursday. “We gave ourselves an opportunity to tie the game but couldn’t finish. We are very excited for what is ahead and to bounce back.”
Rye trailed by four in the third quarter, but went on a quick 3-0 run in two minutes to cut the deficit to a single goal at 8-7. The quick strikes forced Nyack to call timeout. However, the Garnets were unable to come out on top down the stretch as both defenses tightened up and the final whistle blew at 12-11 Redhawks.
Rye (3-1) is in action today, Thursday 4/10, looking to bounce back against New Canaan in another road contest.
