Boys Tennis Gets Back on Track with Trouncing of JJCR

The Rye Boys Tennis team ended a brief three-game losing streak on Thursday, May 8, as they beat the John Jay-Cross River Wolves 7-0. Rye came out with a vengeance after a tough loss yesterday, and dominated in all aspects for the sweep.

1st singles: Grant Lobo defeated Karl Shue 6-1, 6-3
2nd singles: Alex Gordon crushed Chaz Thea 6-1, 6-1
3rd singles: Luke Gordon swept Evan Outwater 6-2, 6-0

1st doubles: a new pairing of Filip Glitterstam and Xavier Morrell clinched a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Glitterstam’s regular partner Lou Kim-Reuter remains out with an illness.
2nd doubles: Timothy Morell and Marcos Becker defeated Kalyan Ganesan and Matt Neary
3rd doubles: Tayga Vural and Philip Karajannis claimed victory over Hudson Lutz and Kishem Kathuria
4th doubles: Nate Bertisch and Carter Hudspeth won by default

Rye has one remaining game on the schedule, Friday 5/9, against Horace Greeley. Then, over the weekend, the individual Sectional Tournament begins. The Garnets and will send L. Gordon, X. Morell, and Vural as singles qualifiers, and A. Gordon/Lobo, Glitterstam/Kim-Reuter, and T. Morell/Becker as their three doubles teams. The following week has Rye, as a team, competing in the Section 1 tournament.
