The Rye Girls Golf team forged a furious comeback on Thursday, May 1, defeating Edgemont 238-251. This marked the second victory against the Panthers in 2025, and saw Rye erase a nine stroke deficit at its largest.
“In the first meeting at Sunningdale, Rye narrowly came out on top by just one stroke, and this match proved just as intense,” the team’s Head Coach Rich Savage told MyRye.com. “The greens were playing fast, but the Garnets rose to the challenge.”
Matilda Glitterstam had Rye’s best score with a 47, followed by Anna Bancroft and Leila Kurbusi with solid 48s. Laeticia Clauss also broke 50 with a score of 49. All four Garnets defeated their opponents in heads-up, which helped the team mount their comeback.
Rye (5-1) had previously beaten Edgemont 259-260 in what was their first win of a now five-game heater since losing the season opener. Savage and his group will look to make it six straight as they travel to Pelham Country Club on Monday, May 5, for a matchup with the rival Pelicans. The start time for that match is 4:00pm.
