The Rye Boys Lacrosse Team defeated Mountain Lakes at home on Wednesday, May 3, by a score of 16-8. Tucker Hess led the Garnets with ten points, including a remarkable nine assists, and Charlie Brady netted a double hat trick to lead the team to victory.
Head Coach Steve Lennon confirmed that Hess’ nine assists were the most in a game by any individual player since he assumed head coaching duties in 2017. If it was not the single best playmaking performance in the 62-year history of Rye Lacrosse, it was close.
Hess also scored to give him ten points on the day. Brady added an assist on top of his six-goal performance for seven points. Tyler McDermott and Will Niejadlik both had four-point days, while Carson Miller added two goals and an assist.
Ty Ramachandran continued an excellent season in goal with nine saves on seventeen shots (.529 save percentage) to earn his eighth win. Wilson Redd went 14/27 on face-offs in a close battle at midfield with his Mountain Lakes counterpart.
Rye outscored the Herd 8-2 in the second half after it went to the break with the Garnets holding just an 8-6 advantage. The team is now 8-2 on the season and hosts John Jay-Cross River in their next game on Tuesday, May 6. Start time for the contest at Nugent Stadium is scheduled for 5:30pm. Watch it here.
