Rye Softball almost erased a 9-1 deficit to Rye Neck on Monday, May 12, scoring seven times but losing 9-8. The Garnet bats came to life after two consecutive shutout losses, but it was just not enough against the Panthers in the one-run defeat.
“After being down 9 to 1, we rallied and had the tying run up at bat in the last inning, but fell short,” Head Coach Alex Tejera told MyRye.com after the game. “Great comeback… great effort.”
Ava Rollano paced the offense with two extra-base hits, two runs batted in, and a run. Jill DeSanto reached base three times on a single and two walks, as well as a run and RBI. Caroline Joyce, Charlotte Dinger, Ava Cross, and Clara Meszkat all recorded one hit.
Rye (4-10-1) dropped their third consecutive game on Monday, and will have to try to rebound against Pelham tomorrow, Tuesday 5/13, in a 4:30pm home game.
