Rye Baseball Wins Eleventh Straight Game, League Title

The Rye Baseball team clinched sole possession of first place in League A-1 with a 2-1 victory on Monday, May 12, earning their eleventh straight victory and first of the season over Eastchester. Garnet pitching hunkered down after a busy first inning to extend their impressive hot streak and continue rising towards a very high seed in the postseason tournament.
Freshman Clayton McCarthy earned the win, going four innings and allowing just one run. He was able to escape a bases loaded jam in the first inning and cruised from there. McCarthy is now 5-0 on the year. Lucas London picked up his first save, going 3.0 innings and ceding just two baserunners. He struck out six Eagles in the clean outing.
Harry Ellis reached base twice and had a sacrifice fly out of the 7-hole, while 8-hitter Lucas London ripped an RBI single in the same second inning to account for Rye’s offense. Neither team scored after the top of the frame – eleven consecutive scoreless half-innings in the Garnet’s eleventh consecutive victory of 2025.
Rye (15-3) finishes 11-1 in league play to solidify the top seed and continue working towards home field advantage for two rounds in their playoff bracket (independent from their small league). Their final two games only count towards the playoff seeding – the first of which is tomorrow, Tuesday 5/13, at 4:30pm at Valhalla.
