A tribute to the vibrancy, wisdom, and contributions of older adults, “The Wisdom Gallery” has opened at the Rye Free Reading Room. The art exhibit runs all of May in celebration of Older Americans Month and is sponsored by The Osborn.

The exhibit showcases photographic portraits and personal reflections from older residents who have contributed to our local communities through their personal, professional and volunteer efforts. Each portrait is accompanied by words of wisdom from these individuals.

“This exhibit isn’t just for today—it’s meant to spark dialogue across generations,” said Matthew Anderson, president and CEO of The Osborn, the senior living community in Rye at the opening on May 7. “What we see here tonight are lives defined by expansion: of knowledge, of creativity, of community. Our older neighbors have helped build the world we live in. The Wisdom Gallery is more than portraits—it’s a celebration of wisdom, courage, and accomplishment.”

Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, also at the opening said: “This powerful exhibit brings to life the stories of older adults whose achievements have shaped our community and influenced our lives — from the arts and sciences to journalism, education, public service and beyond. We are fortunate to have such remarkable neighbors, and we can all benefit from their insight and rich life experiences. Westchester County is proud to work hand in hand with our communities, to honor, empower and meet the evolving needs of our older residents.”
