It was an anemic showing for the 5th annual pride flag raising at Rye City Hall on Monday afternoon.
Mayor Josh Cohn, two councilmembers and a handful of city staff represented the extent of the affair. Maybe the celebration at Rye Town Park last weekend or the RHS GSA flag raising stole city hall’s thunder? Maybe it is so accepted after the multi-year battle to hoist pride flags was won in 2021 that it no longer attracts much attention.
The Coach John Wooden said “The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.” If you believe this, city hall delivered the goods.
“This is our fifth year displaying the bride flag, and we’re very happy to be doing so,” said Rye Mayor Josh Cohn to me, the city videographer and a handful of city staff.
