
On Tuesday night, the Board of Education appointed Dr. Cody Blume as Assistant Principal of Rye High School. He will assume the role on July 1.
Blume is familiar to many in the Rye community, having spent almost a decade in the Rye City School District, first at Rye Middle School (RMS) and then at Rye High School (RHS). He came to RMS in 2016 as a social studies teacher, serving as the department coordinator, before moving to RHS to teach social studies in 2024. For the past two years, he has served as the International Baccalaureate Programme Coordinator for the high school. Dr. Blume began his career as a high school social studies teacher in the Mamaroneck Union Free School District.
Blume has a B.A. in History and Secondary Education and an M.A. in History, both from St. John’s University, an M.S. in Guidance and Counseling from the College of New Rochelle, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Manhattanville University. His doctoral dissertation was on the influence of active learning environments and 21st-century skill development on student self-efficacy.
