Expect traffic and delays across downtown Rye for the remainder of the summer into the fall due to a Con Ed gas main replacement project. Work began last week and is expected to continue into the fall. Con Ed will be work six days a week: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, and on Saturdays, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The specific areas impacted are:
- Purchase Street to Cross Street (Citibank and Fireman’s Circle area)
- Orchard Ave to Central Ave
- 946 Boston Post Road (Resurrection Grammar School ) to Parsons Street (Rye High School and Middle School campus)
The work near Parsons Street scheduled to finish before the start of the school year. Officials have not provided a specific target completion date other than “fall”. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times and officials are encouraging residents to use alternate routes to avoid delays and changes in traffic patterns.
