A car was stolen from a Rye home on Heritage Lane off Forest Avenue in the early hours on Friday, August 1, 2025.
Rye PD used the crime to remind residents “Lock all doors and close windows every time you park. NEVER leave your keys or key fob in the car—even for a quick errand. Remove valuables or keep them out of sight.”
The 2024 BMW X5 was stolen from Heritage Lane around 3:00am Friday. The car was last seen eastbound on Playland Parkway at 3:19am.
There was no broken glass at the scene so most likely the car was unlocked. Almost all cars stolen in the City are left unlocked by the owner, often with a key fob inside.
