Barbara Porter Schofield (December 7, 1934 – July 29, 2025), daughter of Frederic and Helen Porter, was born in Cleveland Ohio. She graduated from Hathaway Brown School in 1952, and from Vassar College in 1956 with a BA in Art History. She worked in Public Relations for the Rockefeller Brothers and the Neuberger Museum, NY.
She married her great love, Robert (Bob) Schofield in 1959. They were married for 65 years. At various times they had homes in Manhattan, Rye, NY, Palm Beach, FL, and Little Compton, RI. Barbara made wonderful friends wherever she went. She passed on her love of art, travel, reading, and corresponding, as well as her general curiosity and enthusiasm for life. She so completely filled our lives with her love and joy that it is impossible that she will ever really be absent from us.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband Bob and her son, Porter, and is survived by her son Robert Hayden Schofield, Jr, daughter Sarah Schofield Herzog, and grandchildren Anna and Eliza Herzog, Olivia Schofield and Robert (“Trip”) Hayden Schofield, III.
