The Rye Volleyball Garnets earned their eighth victory in a row on Tuesday, September 30, sweeping Ardsley in three sets, 25-22, 25-20, 25-20. Head Coach Geri Jones’ squad closes out the month with another victory – closer than the 3-0 scoreline suggests – to improve to 9-1 on the season.
Amelie Modesto recorded her second double-double in as many days, with 26 assists and 12 digs. Emma Lunstead set a new season high with 9.0 digs per set, also coming up just one assist shy of the double-double. Phoebe Greto led the offense with twleve kills, followed closely by Valeria Medina (eight, plus 15 digs) and quickly-rising Giorgia Brizio (seven, plus three aces). Rye’s balanced offense and pestering defense have given their first ten opponents fits.
The Garnets (9-1) have a short break to celebrate Yom Kippur, and return on Monday, October 6, as they visit Somers. First serve against the Tuskers is scheduled for 4:30pm next week, with Rye looking to win their ninth straight match. Watch it here. Replay the win over Ardsley here.
